The hide is located near Túrkeve on a large steppe habitat. This place is a wintering area for many eagles every year. We installed it in 2009 in the garden of a old farmhouse close to the old barn. We used straw bales to build it, because we wanted to put this building into it’s habitat.
This hide must be entered before daylight (ca. 06:00) and can be left only around dusk (ca. 15:30). The reason for this is that the eagles are very shy birds, so if we disturb them, they can ignore the feeding station for days. In the hide there is a heater, which keeps the temperature around + 15-18 Celsius when the outside temperature is – 8 Celsius.
The eagles usually come within 10-40 meters. We recommend the 500 mm and 300 mm lenses, but also zoom lenses and extenders can be useful.
The Hides 500 cm wide, 200 cm long and 150 cm high. The two reflex glass windows are 220 cm by 40 cm each.
