Zoltán Pabar - Managing Director, Tour Leader

Zoltán is graduate from the Faculty of Agricultural, Water and Enviromental Management at the the Tessedik Sámuel College in Szarvas. His thesis was on the Rehabilitation possibilities of the backwaters of the Great Hungarian Plain. He speaks and writes in English and he understands a little German as well. Zoltán started birdwatching when he was thirteen and started fishing when he was only ten. He was the leader of the Barn Owl conservation programme in South-East Hungary. In 2006, he spent three months in the Netherlands studying birds and their diverse habitats. In 2007, he was in the United Kingdom, improving his English.

He has observed about 280 bird species in Hungary. These include Bewick’s and Whooper swan, Red-breasted Goose, Lesser White-Fronted Goose, Ruddy Schelduck, Imperial Eagle, Golden Eagle, Black-winged Pratincole, Stilt Sandpiper, Great Black-Headed Gull, Gull-Billed Tern, Red-breasted Flycatcher and Woodchat Shrike.

He began serious photography five years ago and his work has been displayed at exhibitions. His favourite subjects are birds, plants and macro.

Zoltán has travelled with his camera and telescope to many countries, such as: Austria, Greece, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, Egypt, Netherlands and Thailand.

 

Ákos Monoki - Tour Leader

Ákos has been interested in birds since he was six years old. He started birdwatching on the Great Hungarian Plain, mainly in the Nagykunság, Nagy-Sárrét and the Hortobágy, and has developed a significant expertise of the region. He graduated at the College of Nyíregyháza and the University of Debrecen in the biology-environmental protection department.

He is now working for the Nimfea Nature Conservation Association (Túrkeve) as leader of the biodiversity-protection project, carrying out many nature conservationl, environment, protection and education programmes. He has been leading birding and environmental education tours in the Nagykunság and Nagy-Sárrét since 2002. Besides birdwatching, he is a keen photographer. He speaks good English.

 

Ádám Kiss – Tour Leader

Ádám studies at the Tóth Árpád High School in Debrecen. He took his first steps in the forest with his grandfather, when he was only five years old. Since then his love for nature has grown ever stronger and he has been spending more and more of his time birdwatching. His favourite region is the Nagykunság, especially for its different aquatic habitats (rice fields ,fishponds) , pastures and the famous Hungarian Puszta.

He is a volunteer for the Hungarian Birding Society and the Nimfea Nature Conservation Association. In his free time he conducts a lot of research on the species monitoring programme and the bird protection programme (Collared pratincole, Ferruginous duck, common birds etc.).

In 2007 Ádám became a qualifield bird ringer. Since then he has led several bird ringing trips where they have caught birds such as the nightjar, wryneck, pallas's leaf warbler, red-breasted flycatcher. He specializes in swamp and leaf warblers. During our tours we will have a chance to have a look at the protection work he does, and there will be an opportunity for you to join him on that project, should you wish.
