My hides are located in the world famous Hortobágy National Park and in the Körös-Maros National Park the latter being one of the most important sites in Europe for both breeding and migrating birds. Around the starting points of our tours -namely Túrkeve and Kisújszállás- there are many important bird habitats such as grasslands, riverside woodlands, marshes as well as man-made and natural aquatic habitats. My hides are built from natural substances thus they perfectly merge with their enviroment and the landscape.
The hide is located near Túrkeve in a large steppe habitat. This location is a wintering area for many eagles every year. We installed the hide in 2009 in the garden of an old farmhouse close to barn. We used straw bales so that the building can become part of the habitat surrounding it.
The hide is located in Túrkeve in the Körös-Maros National Park. It is surrounded by natural grassland and a small copse. From here you can observe the life of the Rollers, Kestrels and Red-footed Falcons. The thicket of trees creates a small island in the massive grassland where many other kinds of birds can be spotted landing.
This hide is located in the Körös-Maros National Park. Hungarian fishponds are the reminiscence of the old wetlands and marshes drained 100 years ago. Nowadays these ponds remain the most important wetlands for the Hungarian Waterfowl and other waders.
This hide located in Túrkeve, where my guesthouse is. This is my first blind. It is classical drinking hide, wher at the winter time I feed the birds also. We can photograph from here the Hungarian garden birds, like Green and Syrian woodpecker, Sparrowhawk or Hawfinch.
This hide is located in Kisújszállás. In the surrounding area we can find a park with oak trees, a garden with fruit trees, grassland with wildroses and agricultural fields. This diversity is garantee for a wide selection of birds. At the blind there are a bird bath and feeder as well.
This hide is located in the Körös-Maros National Park in a steppe habitat. This place is a traditional breeding place of the hoopoes. In this area every year 3-6 nests are spotted, so it is an ideal place to photograph this beautiful birds
This hide is located in an old sandmine, where the birds can dig easly their nesting holes into the walls. Every year we can spot 20-25 pairs of these beautiful birds in this area, but at the same place we can photograph Sandmartins as well.
This is not a real hide, because we just sit down at the lake and wait for the Kingfishers. The pond is a traditional wintering place of these birds, where they can find small fishes easily. We just wait the bird to come and fish just in front of us at their favorite fishing place. We can be 5 meters from the birds and they will fish ans fish…
During the tours we use mobile blinds as well. I have got a few hides but if you would like to use yours that is not a problem for me.
My first bird photography hide in Transylvania. (Transylvania is a part of Romania). It is located in a deciduous forest near Odorheiu Secuiesc. During the winter we feed the birds, but in the other seasons they come to bath and drink at the small birdbath.
