Spring birdphotography tour

During our spring phototour we will deploy the period of the year when birds are most active mating. Upon the end of winter our birds change into their most fancy feather dresses and look colourful and astonishing as if they were asking for being photographed. Nature is wild green with vivid flowers blooming and the woods are rich in birds singing. What else do we need for an unforgettable photography tour?

Destination: Hungary, Kisújszállás, Túrkeve, Körös-Maros National Park

Date: 10-16, 17-23, 24-30 May

Cost of the tour: 330000 HUF/person

After a relaxing night we will start our photo tour in my Hawfich hide, where Syrian Woodpeckers, Nightingales, Flycatcher can appear from the Finches. The Golden Orioles are returning from their wintering territories around this time and are regular guest around the hide. After the hide photography we will have the opportunity to take pictures of the Wryneck in the park nearby.

Day 3.

After our midday siesta we are going to visit one of the most beautiful fishing ponds of the neighbourhood, where we can picture Pygmy Cormorants and different kind of Herons. During the afternoon we are going to see Ferruginous duck, Marsh Harriers, Bearded Tits and Pond terrapins as well.

Day 4.

Day 5.

During the morning from our mobil hides we are going to take pictures of the Bee-eaters. These colourfull birds are returning from their wintering countries around this time. After this we will have the opportunity to take pictures of the Great White Egret and the Little Bittern.

After a short midday siesta we are going to visit Hungary’s second biggest lake the Lake Tisza, where during a boat trip we can take pictures of the following birds: Night Heron, Great Crested Grebe, Whiskered Tern, Penduline Tit, Black Tern and Grey Heron.

Day 6.

At dawn we are going to visit my Tower hide for the Red-footed Falcon, we can take picture of the birds basking in the first rays of the morning sun. From this hides we can see  Lesser Grey Shrikes, Roller, Jackdaws and Kestrels.

During our midday siesta we are going to take pictures from our Hawfich hide, where Syrian Woodpeckers, Nightingales, Flycatcher can appear from the Finches. The Golden Orioles are returning from their wintering territories around this time and are regular guest at our drinking pond. After the hide photography we will have the opportunity to take pictures of flying herons ( Night heron, Purple heron, Little Egret) useing the soft light from the sunset.

1st day

We meet at the Airport and after one and a half hour drive we will arrive to Kisújszállás, where your accommodation, the Villa Aquila is located. After you have settled in, we will go for lunch or dinner depending on the time to a local restaurant. If we have time, we will have a walk around the town with our cameras and binoculars.

2nd day

After a relaxing night we will start our photo tour in the garden hide located in Túrkeve. We will mainly see Finches here, however the Syrian Woodpecker and the Green Woodpecker are also regular guest at the drinking pond. After the hide photography we are going to explore the surrounding territories. During our walk we will take pictures of the Great Reed Warbler and the Penduline Tit.

After our midday siesta we are going to visit the neighbouring rice fields, where we will see Bluethroats, Sedge Warblers and Savi’s Warblers. On the rice field we can see many waders as well and this time of the year the first Collared pratincoles arrive.

3rd day

At dawn we are going to visit my Red-footed Falcon hide next to Túrkeve, where we can take picture of the birds basking in the first rays of the morning sun. In the morning you will be able to photograph meating Red footed falcons, Kestrels and with a bit of luck Roller or Golden Oriole will be in front of your camera.

After our midday siesta we are going to visit the Great Bustard Conservation Centre in Dévaványa. In the exhibition centre we will take an insight into the Hungarian Great Bustard conservation program. This place is perfect for photographing the Great Bustard in a fenced area, but the Montagu’s Harrier and the Hoopoe are wild and with a bit of luck we can photograp them also.

7th day

If we have enough time before leaving  to the airport we will drive around to visit the neighbouring fields for Corn Bunting, Yellow wagtail and many other small songbirds .
